Announcement : New 100Mbit Local Internet Exchange (IX) Peering Successful!

Posted on Friday, 29 January 2010 16:00:00

We are pleased to announce that we have finished the final testing of our 100Mbit peering link with the local Internet Exchange or IX operated by Comclark. The peering link connects the Philippines Online network and its Premium Dialup, Tru-Speed Broadband and DirectConnect Leased Line Customers -- via a low-latency, high-bandwidth connection -- to other local ISPs and Telcos.

What this means is data to and from a computer or server located within the network of a peering member goes through this local link instead of being coursed through our international link resulting in faster downloads and uploads of local content. As of this writing, the IX counts as members the networks of Comclark, Bayantel, ASTI/DOST and several VAS providers and BPO's.
