At In Touch, we recognize the difficulties people experience when coming to a new country and adjusting to an entirely new life, where everyday things appear different and confusing. Our cultural orientation workshops have helped many adapt to their new circumstances and are widely recommended within the expatriate and 'Balikbayan' communities. 'Balikbayan' is the term given to ethnic Filipinos who have lived overseas.

Over the past 25 years, In Touch has conducted many training workshops and cross-cultural orientation seminars for corporations and individuals. The themes are based on family, cross- culture and self-development. Some of the topics include:

  • Introduction to Living and Working in the Philippines
  • Crisis Line Training
  • Effective Listening & Self Awareness
  • Managing Your Domestic Helper
  • The Challenge of Adolescence
  • Relationship Enhancement

Introduction to Living and Working in the Philippines

This workshop is designed for newly-arrived expatriates to aid their adaptation to life and work in the Philippines. For many newcomers to the Philippines, a common assumption is that although we are in Asia, the Western trappings and the use of the English language will make our transition to the Philippines a snap. Reality soon sets in and we are reminded that this is indeed a different culture with different cultural values. To help make this adaption as smooth and efficient as possible, ITCS provides a five-hour open seminar.

The Introduction to Living and Working in the Philippines seminar provides both a general examination of culture and cultural adaption, as well as specific insights into Filipino culture and behavior using the participants' own cultures as references.
