WELCOME! WELCOME! WELCOME!

To The First 12 Steps Marathon Of Meetings And Sportsfest

For Alcoholics And Narcotics Anonymous

APRIL 05 TO 06, 2008 OZAMIZ CITY

Why AA and NA in one occasion:

My name is Rene and I am an Addict and an Alcoholic. On behalf of Ozamiz Group I would like to explain to everyone why we have decided to hold a joint fellowship with AA and NA.

For some of us in recovery, we know that there is a serious and nagging problem even with just trying to stay sober on a daily basis.

It’s an undeniable fact that we are still quite few in recovery. Though our numbers are growing it’s still not enough because, in other parts of the Philippines, many members are harboring feelings towards divisiveness between these two worthwhile fellowships. But it has not been so here in Mindanao. AA and NA members here in Mindanao are very close friends and we the Ozamiz Group wants it to stay that way. We all need each other’s help because whether its alcohol or drugs our disease is so awesome it has destroyed the lives and families of many of our recovering friends. We the Ozamiz Group feels NA and AA Fellowships should always remain united if only in regional conventions like this and more, for we have an extraordinary foe that is very powerful cunning and baffling.

However, “as long as the ties that bind us together are stronger than those that would tear us apart, all will be well” – a line from our readings that we in Ozamiz Group believe is very true.

The Ozamiz Group therefore invites all of us in recovery to join in this most historic occasion. The first Joint AA and NA Marathon of Meetings and a Sportsfest this April 05, 2008, Saturday, in Ozamiz City. Convention fees is Php 650.00 inclusive of 5 full meals, 3 snacks and one night air conditioned room accommodation. We promised four months ago at Butuan City that costs will be only at Php 550.00 but after just over 3 months since we last spoke, costs of commodities have risen by almost 20 percent!

For the Sportsfest activities, please prepare for the following events:

Five man team basketball, table tennis, cheer dance (group of 8 men and women in a group) chess, and airsoft wargames.

What to expect if your team wins:

  • Five Man Team Basketball :           Books on AA or NA Basic Text depends on player’s poison!
  • Table Tennis:                                       One book AA or NA Just For Today Basic Text!
  • Cheer dance:                                        8 pcs cool Key holders/dog tags or penlights!
  • Chess :                                                   One recovery T Shirt
