The Puno United Methodist Church celebrated its 12th founding anniversary on October 10, 1999. The occasion was highlighted by the following: the launching of the church's web page at www.philonline.com/~punoumc/ which was introduced by Dr. Sergio E. Arevalo, Jr., the administrative pastor; the dedication of all church furnishings, materials and equipment acquired from June to October 1999; and the dedication of the monumental tower with huge signage and neon lights cum unveiling of the church marker. The unveiling was led by Justice Reynato S. Puno, the Council chairman.
The anniversary was graced by ecclesiastical personalities like DS Bener B. Agtarap who gave the anniversary message, and DS Joy Cera who officiated the dedication and launching. Dr. Carlito S. Puno, president of Philippine Christian University, greeted the congregation and announced the plight of PCU which might turn later to be a United Methodist University. Justice Catalino Castaneda of the Vesper Congregation also graced the occasion and enjoyed the fellowship.
In the evening, the Chancel Choir conducted a Madrigal-type concert at the Aldaba Hall at the University of the Philippines which was attended by people from judiciary, academe, churches, medical professions and common people.
On October 9 before the Sunday anniversary, the church conducted the Medical and Dental Mission (MDM) led by Dr. Myrna P. Velasquez, director of Mary Johnston Hospital and the Outreach Ministry chairperson, and Atty. Luz Puno of the Supreme Court and Board of Trustees chairperson of the church. The MDM was serviced by medical practitioners from the Supreme Court and Mary Johnston Hospital and they served less than 300 people. The council plans to have a monthly MDM in the church, thus, the leaders plan to put up a clinic in the ground floor.
